We all knew how incredible of a city Houston is, but the rest of the world is starting to recognize it, too. According to a report by fDi Intelligence, Space City is the #3 “city of the future” on earth. Here’s why:

In August, fDi Intelligence released a report ranking “cities of the future” across the globe. Houston came in at #3 on the list.

Space City was outdone only by San Francisco and Montreal, who ranked first and second, respectively. Data points include economic potential, human capital and lifestyle, cost effectiveness, business friendliness, and connectivity.

According to the report, Houston boasts an inviting business environment that proves attractive to investors. Between May 2015 and April 2020, the city recorded 53 expansion or co-location projects, which is the second-highest of all locations studied.

Over 8,000 ships visit the Port of Houston annually, the statewide economic impact of which is a whopping $339 billion. The city also ranks #1 in waterborne tonnage in the U.S.

Houston finished third in the Human Capital and Lifestyle category. Five of the top 500 global universities are located in the city, which likely contributed to its strong finish. Houston also boasts 30 international baccalaureate schools.

An incredible culture hub, the city is home to the official government representation for 90 countries. Additionally, 1,700 firms have Houston ownership.

Mayor Sylvester Turner says Houston leads the world in energy and medical facilities, in addition to featuring two world-renowned airports and a rapidly expanding innovation ecosystem. It’s a one-of-a-kind city, to say the least!
