Founded in 1894, Hooker is an unincorporated community in Turner County that was once big enough for a post office but steadily declined through the early 20th Century.

Despite the name’s implication, the town was named for a founding settler named John Hooker and NOT for anything — or anyone — else!

Since a census hasn’t been taken for several decades, there is no official population count for Hooker, which we highly recommend everyone visit for both a selfie in front of the town sign and to meet some of the town’s friendly folks.
