Aside from its natural beauty, the park is special for its history. A portion of the park was once part of a canal system from the early 1800s.

The 2.5- mile Dogwood Trail is particularly scenic and popular. It takes a little over an hour to complete and winds its way through a seemingly enchanted forest.

While you’re here, you’ll also want to explore Gaston’s Mill and Pioneer Village. It’s like taking a walk back through time.
