Some of the most breathtaking views in the Tar Heel State are found along the rim of the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area. Gazing from any viewpoint along the top to deep within the gorge is a sight to behold. But traveling on foot to deep within the Linville Gorge is another experience altogether. Getting from the top of the gorge all the way to the bottom can be a treacherous journey that, in most cases, should not be attempted by anyone who is not a seasoned, experienced hiker. But there is one trail that’s only rated as moderate that can be accomplished in a single day with an early start.
