Is it dark all the time in the winter in Alaska? Utqiagvik is the town that will see the most darkness in the winter. From November 18th through January 24th, the sun never ascends above the horizon. In the southern areas of the state you will still have a darker winter than the Lower 48, but you will still experience a couple hours of daylight during the darkest of the winter months.
