When it comes to finding a castle in the United States, you might find yourself hard-pressed. The nation is known for being incredibly young on a global scale, and most of the stone architecture throughout the country can be found in New England, Still, there are a few interesting places in Wisconsin that may just surprise you. For example: Castles. Most folks don’t know there are castles in Wisconsin, but we have managed to find six that may just pique your interest. Take a look below, and perhaps plan a trip to one of these magical spots for yourself.

Read with a sense of humor, folks. These are truly the most unique places in Wisconsin….or not?

  1. Red Gym (Madison). This is just an absolutely stunning photo of the red gym on the University of Wisconsin campus. I just adore the architecture and the color.

  1. Mars’ Cheese Castle (Somers). Do you know why this is the best castle in the world–better than those castles over there in Scotland or Ireland or whatever? Because it’s filled with cheese. Tons of cheese. Cheese curds. Cheese fudge. CHEEEEEESSSSEEEEE

  1. Elk Mound Castle was built in 1937. It was dedicated as a memorial to postal employees in Dunn County. People say it’s haunted. I’m personally staying the heck away.

  1. History Museum at the Castle (Appleton). This is the most educational castle in all of America. No, seriously, some awesome exhibits pass through and it’s great to bring the kiddos. The castle is just an added bonus.

  1. Kelley Castle (Tomahawk). Most people who build their own homes build the same cookie cutter stuff. This guy really built his dream. So bravo! Also, are you hiring?

  1. White Castle (Kenosha). Okay guys. Why is there only ONE FREAKING WHITE CASTLE in Wisconsin? Really? Do you know how inconvenient it is to lug two crave cases up to Green Bay?!!

So as it turns out, Wisconsin really doesn’t have too many castles. Or any castles. But let’s treasure what we do have. And let’s not forget that the true castle resides at 1265 Lombardi Avenue.

If you’re looking to stay in a treehouse in Wisconsin, we’d recommend heading to the American Resort & Treehouses for fun lodging experiences. The resort has tiny homes, cabins, campsites, and ever-gorgeous treehouses. If you choose to rent a treehouse, you can sleep four folks inside and you’ll find that the houses surround that state’s first and only natural lagoon. There are also a series of treehouse Airbnbs that speckle the American Midwest. What are the most beautiful churches in Wisconsin? Wisconsin has quite a few beautiful examples of church architectures in the state, some that may even rival the more famed churches found on the east coast and in the expansive American south. Covenant Presbyterian Church in Madison is perhaps one of the most beautiful and ornate, and St. Paul Episcopal Church in Milwaukee is also known for its expansive beauty. What are the best man-made attractions in Wisconsin? It’s hard to choose the “best” attractions made my man in Wisconsin, but there is a whole heap of eccentric spots you may want to visit. Head to Lambeau Field in Green Bay, or maybe ogle the art at Milwaukee Art Museum. The Wisconsin Dells boasts the famed Noah’s Ark Waterpark, and the quirky “House on the Rock” in Spring Green is pretty unreal. Wisconsin has a whole lot of natural beauty, but humankind has chosen to put up its own fight in recent years, making for a fun experience throughout Wisconsin.
