Crazy Street Names In Alaska August 19, 2020 Megan McDonald Why does Alaska have so many funny street names? Alaska is a land of odd characters with great senses of humor. Many people enjoy living here because the rules of etiquette and behavior are much more relaxed than other parts of the United States. Oftentimes that translates into fun or quirky behavior that we all get to enjoy! We surf bore tides, run outhouse races, and race reindeer down a prominent downtown Anchorage street. With so many fun things to see and do, it’s no surprise it’s spilled out onto some amazing street names all across the state. Is there crazy laws in Alaska? Actually, there’s quite a few crazy laws in the state of Alaska! You’re not allowed to whisper in someone’s ear while they’re moose hunting, most likely passed into law as a safety measure. Also, we like you to leave the wildlife alone: waking a sleeping bear for a picture is a definite no-no, and it is definitely illegal to feed a moose an alcoholic beverage. Just a couple of many crazy laws we had to enact in the Last Frontier!
