Cape May County Park & Zoo is a very special New Jersey destination. Designed for everyone to enjoy, admission is free though donations are appreciated and encouraged. The park offers walking and biking paths, picnic areas, disc golf, playgrounds, fishing ponds, and more. The zoo, added in 1978 and expanded over the years, is a family favorite.

There are over 500 animals and 250 species to discover!

Facebook/Cape May Zoo Kids and adults alike will enjoy finding them all.

You’ll find lions, tigers, bison, camels, otters, snow leopards, monkeys, alpacas, and the oldest red panda in North America.

All of the animals are loved and well cared for by hardworking zookeepers. When the pandemic hit, they were there for the animals…and us. Each day, viewers could tune in for a free, fascinating lesson.

Mathias Appel/Flickr The virtual zoo school was interesting, informative, and all around enjoyable. Along the way, we learned about all sorts of animals!

Caring for these animals costs money and zoo staff are always coming up with creative ways to raise funds. Recently, a baby Grant’s zebra was born at the zoo to parents Gretta and Ziggy!

Peter Miller/Flickr Grant’s zebra are the smallest of the seven subspecies of plains zebra.

It’s a girl! And you can help name her with a small donation. The three choices are Zuri (beautiful in Swahili), Glory, and Gwen.

BelgianChocolate/Flickr It’s just $1 to vote and the name that raises the most money wins! What a great way to have a little fun and give back to the animals. You can see the sweet little foal for yourself from the Savanna bridge during zoo hours.

Helping to name the foal isn’t the only way you can interact with the animals. You can also arrange for special zoo shout outs.

Cape May County Park and Zoo/Facebook For just $10, send birthday wishes or congratulations with an exclusive video starring your favorite animal. The personalized clips make for a unique gift.

You can also book parties, private tours, and animal meet and greets at affordable rates.

Cape May Park and Zoo/Facebook Donations and animal sponsorships are also great ways to give back to a zoo that has given New Jerseyans years of enjoyment and animal education. (And cuteness, lots of cuteness.)
