With approximately 750 miles of stunning coastline, it comes as no surprise that the Hawaiian Islands are home to some jaw-dropping destinations that fly under the radar. From waterfront parks and beaches to sea cliffs and lava formations, these unique coastal gems are all worthy of a visit, but today we’re headed to one of our favorite parks. While we can’t visit right now, we absolutely can’t wait to visit as soon as possible.
Tucked away on the southeastern shore of Oahu in Hawaii Kai and fronting Maunalua Bay, Kuliouou Beach Park is a haven for local residents who want to enjoy a peaceful day under the bright Hawaiian sun.

…as well as the surrounding mountains, glassy waters, and palm trees swaying in the breeze, Kuliouou Beach Park is as pretty as a postcard.

The water is often a murky brown due to the stream that enters the ocean here, so it is unfortunately not an ideal beach for swimming.

Luckily, the large grassy area with picnic tables and shady trees makes this the perfect spot for a picnic.

The beach park is popular among families with kids and dogs — with plenty of space to run and play — as well as fishermen, who come to gather the mussels on the reef and catch fish from the bay.
