Want to retire in South Carolina? You’re not alone! In fact, Retirement Living recently ranked South Carolina, in general, as the number four state in the country for retirement living. But drill that down a little deeper to find the best city in which to settle for retirement and launching your comeback career after retiring, and you’ll want to head to Greenville, according to a recent study by SmartAssets.

Aside from the obvious preferences when heading into retirement years (nearby quality healthcare, etc.) SmartAssets looked at 525 cities across the nation and ranked them on a number of other criteria. After sifting through all those cities and after the dust settled, our little gem in the upstate clocked in at number 10 in the country for retirees who want to continuing working, however limited, after retiring.

Using a wide number of metrics like the size of the population that’s already over 65, low unemployment rates for seniors, and housing costs as a percentage of retirement income, SmartAssets ranked this upstate locale as the tenth best place in the country.

In fact, when it comes to housing costs versus retirement income, the city also ranks high overall, with housing costs of only 24.72% of retirement income. Why spend more if you don’t have to?
