Spanning more than 12,000 acres across the Red River backwater system, the Spiring Bayou WMA is one of the most perfect places for nature lovers to enjoy.

It’s located in the low-lying Red River backwater system near Marksville, just off of LA Hwy 115 and 452.

There are trails that will take you around the wildlife management area, but because the area is about 40% water, the best way to see this enchanting oasis is by boat.

There are several boat ramps around the WMA, making it easy to bring your boat or kayak and drop it in the water.

And you’ll have plenty of bodies of water to choose from. Various likes, rivers, and bayous including Grand Lake, Grand Coulee, Coulee Noir, Lake Francois, and a portion of Bayou Cocodrie to name a few.
