If it’s an adventure you’re after, then a trek down Flat Rock Trail is sure to suffice. Spanning three miles, it’s not too long; however, it’s brimming with incredible natural beauty, including rock outcroppings and bluffs. What’s more, it leads to the state’s only rock climbing area. Take a look:

Easily one of Mississippi’s best outdoor attractions, Tishomingo State Park has a lot going for it, including one of the few swinging bridges in the state.

Huge rock formations and accompanying waterfalls are also among the park’s notable perks.

The rocky outcrops and bluffs that fill Tishomingo State Park can’t be found anywhere else in the state, making them as rare as they are beautiful.

A portion of the outcrops and bluffs are used for rock climbing.

It’s actually the only rock climbing area in the entire state!

The rock climbing area can be accessed via the Flat Rock Trail, which begins near the park’s entrance.

Approximately three miles in length and deemed “moderate” in intensity, the trail winds through a world of large rock outcroppings and spring-fed streams, into the woods, and around Haynes Lake.

If you plan on doing some rock climbing, keep in mind that a permit is required. (Permits, along with Climbing Guides, can be obtained at the park office.)

Additionally, climbers must provide their own equipment, including helmets, which are mandatory.
