Hiking often means surprises – from crossing paths with wildlife to stumbling across ruins that we otherwise would have never known existed. Flat Rock Trail near Pittsburgh will lead you straight to abandoned ruins. Along the way, you’ll also pass gorgeous natural scenery, making it the perfect way to spend an hour or so.

Just a little over an hour from downtown Pittsburgh, Linn Run State Park provides an idyllic backdrop for a day trip.

The trail also features the remnants of a former hunting campground. Dating back to before World War II, the building once housed the McGuiness Rod and Gun Club.
