It may be hard to imagine cold weather after the hot summer we’ve just come through, but winter will come again before we know it…and this year, the Farmer’s Almanac predicts West Virginia will see cold, ice, and snow at or above-seasonable levels for 2020-2021.

Welcome to wild, wonderful West Virginia, the winter version.

Isn’t she beautiful? We just love our snow covered mountains and icicle falls.

It’s a good thing, too, because we’ll probably be seeing plenty of them this winter! The Farmers’ Almanac has released its predictions for the 2020-2021 winter, and it’s looking like it’s gonna be a cold, snowy one for us this time around the sun.

Those “cold, very flaky” regions of West Virginia might even be in for a white Christmas…or at least, we can dream!

While a cold, snowy winter might be bad news for some, in general, West Virginians aren’t too scared of snow; we’re used to it. We know how to shovel out our houses and driveways….

We know how to clear our roads (most of the time) and drive in snow even if they’re not all the way clean…

We even know how to let loose and have a little fun with this white powdery stuff that’s predicted to fall with extra frequency from the sky!

And we know that when it comes right down to it, we can even still grill out if we want to…we just have to dust off a little snow first.

So bring it on, Winter! We’ll take your extra cold and snow…especially if it keeps the tick population at bay next summer. (True story: cold weather won’t kill ticks, exactly, but it will cause them to emerge later in the spring, delaying their life cycle and functionally reducing their population!)
