For the best boardwalk views, head out on the Locust Creek Boardwalk Trail. At just 1.5 miles, the trail is rated easy for hikers of all ages and skill levels.

Begin your trek on the old iron bridge that leads you through a variety of terrain, including forested areas. The towering trees, in fact, help provide shade on those hot summer days.

One of the highlights of the trail, which is entirely comprised of boardwalks, is an observation tower. It provides sweeping views of a 1,000-acre wet prairie.

If a single day just isn’t enough, Pershing State Park also welcomes overnight visitors at its year-round campground. (However, water and showers are only available from April 15 through the end of October.)
