The next time you want to trade the city views for a more natural landscape, hop in the car and head on down to Houma where you’ll find the Mandalay Nature Trail, one of the most beautiful trails near New Orleans.
Deep down in the heart of Bayou Country lies the Mandalay National Wildlife Refuge, one of eight refuges in the Southeast Louisiana National Refuge Complex.

The 4,600-acre refuge is a beautiful landscape of freshwater marsh and cypress-tupelo swamps that attract nature lovers from all over.

Although the majority of the refuge is only accessible by boat, there is a nature trail that’s perfect for an afternoon adventure.
