Vermont has some months that could be seen as “unmissable,” like the months of March and April, for example, where mud, rain, and 40-degree days reign supreme. But, apart from that, Vermont is a highly desirable place to be during the summer and winter months (if you like to ski). This summer, plan a trip to Bomoseen State Park for an adventure in Vermont filled with exploring, camping, and water sports at the beautiful and serene Lake Bomoseen and surrounding wilderness.

Roughly 20 miles east of Rutland, Bomoseen State Park is a large 3,576-acre state park located in the Taconic Mountains on the shores of Lake Bomoseen.

Lake Bomoseen is, in fact, the largest lake wholly within Vermont with a maximum depth of 65 feet. The lake is great for swimming, kayaking, and boating.

In the park, there are several quarry holes, as this area of Vermont was previously rich in slate. There are also plenty of wilderness walks and hikes in and around Lake Bomoseen.
