Everyone seems to be getting creative with their Halloween activities this year. Since the CDC recommends avoiding trick-or-treating altogether, a whole new crop of drive-thru Halloween fun promises to make this year’s festivities interesting and exciting. One of those socially-distant activities is the VIP Haunted Car Wash in Omaha.
VIP Carwash is a locally-owned business at 119th & M Streets in Omaha. Ordinarily, it offers hand-dry car washes. But for a few select days in October, it will be offering up a little something extra.

No, it’s not free hugs, no matter what the creepy clown might say. VIP is hosting a haunted carwash, a concept that has gained traction elsewhere over the past couple of Halloweens. As far as we can find, this is the first carwash in Nebraska to go haunted for the holiday.

The experience is naturally socially distanced thanks to the fact that you’re in a car with your windows rolled up. That doesn’t mean that you’ll be bored, though…

In fact, this may just be the most memorable car wash you’ll ever get! Admission includes the highest level of wash offered at VIP along with the customary hand-dry.

As you roll through the carwash, keep an eye out for costumed characters, spooky decorations, and various creepy things accentuated by the black lights.

Since your car will be moving through on the tracks and you won’t have to steer, you’ll be free to watch the haunting scenes around you. The experience is meant to be spooky, but it’s not too scary for the little ones in the family.

Still not convinced that you need to visit a haunted carwash? VIP Carwash is also accepting - and matching a percentage of - donations to the Open Door Mission, a local organization that provides support to Omaha’s homeless population.

The first few dates for the haunted car wash have passed, but you can still visit on October 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 29th, and 30th from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The cost is $20, which includes a VIP-level wash, a hand-dry, and a sanitized treat bag for the kids. Everyone is encouraged to dress up in costume for this uniquely fun event.
