Most of Mississippi’s state parks are great visits year-round. However, some parks offer seasonal amenities that you don’t want to miss – and that’s definitely the case with Roosevelt State Park. A summertime must-visit, the park boasts a lake, swimming pool, and a towering waterslide. Take a look:

Somewhat centrally located, Roosevelt State Park is in the tiny town of Morton, which is situated between Meridian and Jackson.

Not only is Roosevelt State Park one of Mississippi’s oldest state parks, but it also boasts some of the most picturesque vistas thanks to a scenic overlook that provides panoramic views of the Bienville National Forest.

The lovely landscape is only outshined by the park’s amenities – one of which is Shadow Lake.

Spanning 150 acres, the sparkling, freshwater lake is a favorite of fishermen, boaters, and water skiers. And with plenty of docks, accessing the water is a breeze.

A lakeside pool is another park perk that’s sure to please. The 2,600-square-foot pool provides a refreshing escape from the summer heat.

The seasonal fun doesn’t end with the pool, though. There’s also a towering 36-foot-tall waterslide.

Thrill-seekers will rejoice as they’re sent soaring through the slide’s five twisting turns before coming to an end in the landing pool below.

And just like the main swimming pool, the slide overlooks Shadow Lake, making the ride down even more entertaining.
