New Jersey’s lakes are not just for summertime swimming. While that may be one of our favorite seasons to visit, there’s still plenty to enjoy in the fall. From fishing to foliage, you won’t be bored at these beautiful Burlington County lakes! For those who don’t know, Burlington County is New Jersey’s largest county by area, encompassing nearly 820 square miles. The county spans the state from coast to coast with the Delaware River to the west and the Mullica River and Great Bay (leading out to the Atlantic Ocean) to the east. Throughout, you’ll find plenty of streams, wetlands, and lakes like these.
Crystal Lake

Willingboro Lakes (Formerly Olympia Lakes)
Image: County Of Burlington After about 20 years, Willingboro Lakes Park finally reopened to the public. It is Willingboro’s first county park! The 105-acre park has hiking trails, 3 fishing and kayak piers, a children’s play area, and a boulder amphitheater.
Tamarac Lakes

You have several options to choose from including the beautiful Tamarac Lakes, pictured. The community is home to six different lakes and some of the best fishing in the area.
Smithville Lake

Oswego Lake
Louis Dallara/Google At the edge of Penn State Forest in Bass River Township, Oswego Lake is a popular place for hiking, off-roading, and discovering history. You’ll find the remains of a 1930s Civilian Conservation Corps Camp here - it was a segregated camp for African Americans.
