A new year means a fresh start and a clean calendar, just waiting to be filled with fun activities and events. While we may have to deal with the mask-wearing and social distancing of the pandemic, we can still have fun all winter long. The Fire & Ice Showcase in Pennsylvania, for example, promises a weekend jam-packed with outdoor fun.
Mark your calendars for the weekend of January 15-17, 2021. That’s when the annual Fire & Ice Festival in Somerset presents its scaled-back version of the popular event.

The 2021 event will be known as The Fire & Ice Showcase. Some of the treasured traditions - the Chili Cookoff, for example - will be put on hold during the pandemic.

Still, expect an enchanting winter showcase that features a full menu of ice sculptures. All sculptures will be far enough from each other to allow showcase-goers to social distance.

However, that’s just the start of the fun. Stroll through downtown to marvel at the intricately decorated storefronts as music emanates from speakers throughout the town.

Will you attend The Fire & Ice Showcase in Pennsylvania this winter? Have you done so in years past? Share your experience in the comments! For more winter fun, plan a visit to Ohiopyle State Park. Its three waterfalls – Cucumber Falls, Ohiopyle Falls, and Jonathan Run Falls – are all particularly pretty when frozen and sprinkled with snow.
