A wide area of Kansas is hiding out north of Manhattan, with a whole cedar forest to explore. For those who think Kansas is flat, we beg to differ!

In total, it’s 5.8 miles long and loops around to the beginning, just in case you want to take it around more than once. It’s a bumpy ride in some places but doesn’t take too long at a good pace.

Rock-lined trails with plenty of tree cover mean that during the spring, there will be so much green filtering the sunlight.

Why not spend a day hiking through the forest when the air smells like spring growth? Easy relaxation at the pace you set.

Along the trail, you’ll find lots of climbing opportunities. If you happen to be hiking with kids in tow, this is a great way to get rid of all that excess energy.

Dogs are allowed on the trail as long as they’re leashed, and it’s accessible year-round, but probably won’t be a good idea right after a good rain. Make sure to take any trash or food scraps with you when you leave, and we’ll keep this trail clean for future visitors!

If you’d like to suggest a great trail that we should check out, we take ideas at our Nomination Page.
