When you’re in the mood for a bit of the bizarre, you should head straight to this gorgeous park in Massachusetts that’s filled with decaying relics of the past.

No, we’re not talking about ancient ruins or historical markers – we mean rusted-out cars and cables from the turn of the century. Here’s what you need to know about the Becket Historic Land Trust Quarry.

The Becket Land Trust Historic Quarry is a fascinating spot filled with gorgeous walking trails and decaying vintage machines.

Located in the town of Becket, this spot was once a busy quarry. When the quarry ceased operations in the 1960s, old cars and machinery were left behind.

This means that the woods are dotted with vintage cars, buildings, antique furniture, and industrial items like cables and winches.

Much of this old stuff dates back to the 1950s and 1960s, but you can also find items from as far back as the 1870s!

In addition to the retro machinery, the quarry features plenty of explanatory markers and walking trails to explore.

The quarry area itself is beautiful, but swimming is not permitted due to safety concerns. And though you can interact with the old machinery, you should only do so in ways that won’t cause damage to the artifacts.

The quarry is open from dawn until dusk every day of the year. There is a $10 charge per car per day between Memorial and Labor Day. Visiting is free for members and during the off-season.
