Autumn features a spectacular display of color that truly transforms our roads. The Wally Road Scenic Byway in Ohio follows the route of an old railroad and connects the wholesome Amish Country with the heartwarming Mohican Country. It’s an especially beautiful route to take in the fall.
What was once the “Wally,” (the Toledo, Walhonding Valley and Ohio Railroad) has now ceased operations, but parts of the 45-mile route are featured along what is now the Wally Road Scenic Byway.

Along the way, you’ll weave your way through heavily wooded areas, charming small towns and a stunning wilderness.

If you plan to stop for some outdoor adventure, there are several campgrounds, such as River Run Campground (pictured) and other attractions.

It’s fascinating to imagine a railroad in place of the current roadway, which also features scenic waterfront views. You’ll see where the Clear Fork meets the Mohican River.

The end—or beginning, depending on the direction you choose to travel—of the route takes you to Route 3 and the beautiful town of Loudonville.
