Polar Caves Park in Rumney offers an incredible experience learning about the land that was created during and just after the Ice Age.

The area was created more than fifty thousand years ago when a glacier moved over New Hampshire. When these huge sheets of ice began to thaw, huge blocks of granite were dislodged, causing them to fall from Hawk’s Cliff.

These rock blocks landed in a way that created a series of caves and tiny passageways that are on display for visitors.

There’s also an animal park here with Fallow Deer, which are originally from Europe. These are much smaller than the deer we typically see here in New Hampshire and they love getting treats from kids.

Polar Caves Park is open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $24.50 on weekends and holidays for everyone 12 and over and $21.50 midweek. Ages 4 to 11 are $14.50 and kids 3 and under are free. If you’re active or retired military or a first responder you’ll receive $3.00 off the ticket price. You’ll need to reserve your space here.
