This surface mine has become a beautiful area for fishing, camping, and spending a quiet day out in the beautiful Kansas scenery. It makes for a unique place to camp out that’s much less busy than state parks. As long as you don’t mind a rougher area, this place is perfect for you.

13,000 acres of land make up most of the area, with only 2,000 acres being area that wasn’t mined during the time. Native grasses, wildflowers in all colors, and a good bit of mushrooms all grow here pretty freely. We think it’s just beautiful here.
