‘Tis the season for stars, and not only the ones atop of Christmas trees.

On the night of December 21st, 2020, a rare planetary alignment will occur that will look like an extraordinarily bright star.

Jupiter and Saturn usually align about every 20 years, but the last time they were THIS close to one another was in the year 1226. So, needless to say, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime sight!

And because this very rare alignment is happening near Christmastime, this phenomena has been named the Christmas Star, or the Star of Bethlehem.

The best time to view the Christmas Star will be around twilight (right after sunset), so don’t wait too long to go outside and check it out. While it may appear as a huge star to the naked eye, you may be able to make out the two separate planets (and their moons) if you use a telescope.

Cross your fingers for a non-cloudy evening, and enjoy the magical view!
