There’s no denying that this has been a tough year for most people. Unexpected changes to our daily lives have turned things upside down. That’s why we’re especially grateful for the things that remind us how much beauty really does exist all around us. This month a special celestial occurrence will really close out this year in a wonderful way. Remember that this is rare so you won’t want to miss it!

Christmas means lots of bright twinkling lights. It’s one of the best things about this time of year.

But this year things will look extra-special during a once-in-a-lifetime celestial event set to take place on December 21st, 2020.

If you look toward the sky you’ll see a rare planetary alignment that will look to the naked eye like one bright and giant star.

The phenomenon is the result of Jupiter and Saturn being in perfect alignment.

While the two planets typically align every 20 years this match-up will be unique in that they haven’t been this close to each other since the year 1226!

With Christmas just a few days later, the timing couldn’t be more perfect. For that reason, the phenomenon is being referred to as the Christmas Star or the Star of Bethlehem.

For the best viewing conditions cross your fingers for a clear night. Then head out just after sunset. This twilight time of night will be the best time to see it, so don’t delay!

However you view things, be sure to enjoy. Even if things are cloudy, take some time to take a walk and appreciate all the beauty that’s taking place right above you!

And if you’re looking for more ways to find magic in the season, consider enjoying a toasty warm winter picnic at this midcoast Maine farm.
