When was the last time you got outside? If it was recently, that’s great! If it’s been a while, now is a great time to go exploring. The summer has brought a mix of sun and rain, but that makes for nice days, rushing rivers and lots of green. As we look forward to the rest of the season (and even those beyond!) we’re loving the idea of this route. There are plenty of water views and we can never get enough of those!

The Gonic Trails in Rochester are located on Waste Management land. But don’t let that fool you! This is one of the most beautiful opportunities to hike in the state. And there’s nothing garbage-related here.

There are three trails here, each marked with a different color to help you make your way around. Look for the blue, red, and yellow markers.

The Gonic Trails Long Loop is about 4 miles and features that river view that we’re all here for!

Any of the trails are worth taking and can be joined together with others to form a larger route.

But if you don’t have all day, simply choose any of them and take a stroll. The land is mostly flat, though the red trail does have an incline.

And dogs are allowed to visit, too. Just please be mindful of others and keep your dogs leashed or away from fellow explorers.

This is a great adventure for kids. The river will keep little legs interested in continuing and the payoff at the end is even more fun!

The yellow trail leads straight to the waterfall, so you’ll want to take that one or another that connects to it.
