Today we’re featuring six historic covered bridges in Maryland that are perfect for visiting during autumn. We ordered them from east to west, but you could certainly go west to east, or visit just a few if you’d like.

- Foxcatcher Farms Covered Bridge
Jamie Alvarenga for Only In Your State This Cecil County Bridge was built in 1860. You can find it hiding in the Fairview Hill Natural Resource Management Area. Keep your eyes peeled for horseback riders.
- Gilpin’s Falls Covered Bridge
bill carroll / Google Also in Cecil County and constructed in 1860, Gilpin’s Falls Covered Bridge is located on the side of North East Road. Just park your car nearby and walk over to enjoy the historic and scenic views.
- Jericho Covered Bridge
flownaksala / Getty Images This covered bridge was built in 1865 and crosses Little Gunpowder Falls, which is between Baltimore and Harford County. Some say this structure is haunted, so beware!
- Utica Mills Covered Bridge
flownaksala / Getty Images This structure dates back to 1850 but some think it goes back further. It was once washed away during a flood in 1889 and was rebuilt at its current location, over Fishing Creek. This is the first of three Frederick County covered bridges.
- Loy’s Station Covered Bridge

- Roddy Road Covered Bridge
